Michael Tenzer is a composer, perfomer, educator, scholar and a great specialist of Balinese music. He was recently in Montreal for a conference about his creation, a musical composition binding Balinese and Western instruments. Giri Kedaton had a special rehearsal with him to learn from his great knowledge and experience about Balinese music. Here are some

Giri Kedaton performs a fundraising concert to raise money for the victims of the Indonesian earthquake disaster.

On May 27 2006, a terrible earthquake killed more than 3000 people in Java, Indonesia.

The Indonesian Community Association of Quebec and the City of Montreal joined Giri Kedaton in the organisation of a special event intended to raise funds to contribute to the relief effort for the victims. The show was intended to honour artistic sensibility of Indonesian culture.

After a short performance by the playful Indonesian dance group Tari Indang, the meditative and glistening sounds of Javanese gamelan Larasati filled the air. Then Giri Kedaton energetically took the lead, celebrating life in a frenetic panorama of music and dance.
